A graduate of St. Lawrence University, David
Lloyd received his MA in Creative Writing and his Ph.D. in literature from Brown
University.
He now directs the Creative Writing Program at Le Moyne College. His articles,
interviews, poems, and stories have appeared in magazines in the US, Canada,
and Britain, including Crab Orchard Review, Denver Quarterly, DoubleTake,
New Welsh Review, Planet, Poetry Wales, and TriQuarterly.
He is the editor of The Urgency of Identity:
Contemporary English-language Poetry from Wales
and the author of Writing on the Edge: Interviews with Writers and Editors
of Wales. His poetry collection The Everyday Apocalypse won the 2002
Maryland State Poetry & Literary Society’s chapbook contest and was
published by Three Conditions Press. His poem sequence The Gospel According to Frank was published by New American Press
in 2003. In 2000, he received the Poetry Society of America’s Robert H. Winner
Memorial Award, judged by W. D. Snodgrass.
Other awards include a 2001 Distinguished Scholar Fulbright Award for
research and lecturing at the University
of Wales,
Bangor,
grants from the New York State Foundation for the Arts, and residencies at the
Saltonstall Art Colony and the Anderson
Center
for Interdisciplinary Studies.
